McNicholas & McNicholas UFLAC Education Scholarship

McNicholas & McNicholas, LLP, is funding 4 scholarships throughout 2024 – $12,500 each – for children of United Firefighters of Los Angeles City (UFLAC) members. McNicholas & McNicholas believes that education is the key to personal prosperity and the prosperity of society. Partner Matthew McNicholas was fortunate enough to start his career without student debt, allowing him to start from day one as a contingency fee lawyer representing injured and wronged plaintiffs. This path led to his first LAPD employment case in the late 1990s, evolving into representing hundreds of firefighters, police officers and first responders across California.

The McNicholas family understands how expensive higher education can be for working families. That’s why McNicholas & McNicholas is proud to continue our support of the first responder community by investing in the future of promising individuals and their educational journey.

The UFLAC / McNicholas & McNicholas Education Scholarship will award $12,500 to one eligible student each quarter in 2024. Learn more about eligibility and submission requirements below.

McNicholas & McNicholas Loyola Law School Scholarship

Because we want the best and brightest to practice in California, we are proud supporters of Loyola Marymount University’s Loyola Law School.

This year, McNicholas & McNicholas, LLP has pledged to donate $100,000 in scholarship funds to the law school. We know what kind of education Loyola Law School students receive. Our attorneys have worked as adjunct professors and given lectures to Loyola students on various pressing, legal issues. (This year’s planned lecture will be on use-of-force.) Two of our partners – John P. McNicholas and Matthew S. McNicholas – are graduates of Loyola’s law program, as is associate Richard Powers.

We are also guaranteeing a summer position as a law clerk for a Loyola Law School student, so that he or she can get real-world experience working in a litigation firm. Law clerks play a critical role at our firm, handling research, taking witness statements, writing legal documents, and assisting our attorneys in their cases.
