McNicholas & McNicholas Secures $875K Settlement in Discrimination and Retaliation Lawsuit Against City of Los Angeles and LAPD
Partner Matthew McNicholas and Senior Lawyer Abel Nair obtained an $875,000 settlement on behalf of a seasoned Lieutenant II with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), after she was discriminated against and subjected to differential treatment due to her gender by her newly assigned Captain. When the Lieutenant engaged in protected activity by reporting to her Commander that the Captain was discriminating against her in favor of the other male Lieutenants, she was immediately retaliated against. The Lieutenant endured this retaliation for seven months, including being stripped of her supervisorial duties and responsibilities, and suffering a significant loss of overtime.
