Daily Journal Names Sophia Arim Among Top Women Lawyers in California
Associate Sophia Arim has been recognized on Daily Journal’s 2023 list of Top Women Lawyers in California for her work on thousands of wildfire lawsuits throughout the state as well as minor sexual abuse cases against Los Angeles County.
Currently, Arim leads a team of more than a dozen law clerks working on cases growing out of the Dixie, Mosquito and Creek fires, and told Daily Journal she enjoys this work because it’s so client-oriented. “It’s speaking to people and getting to hear their stories and being part of this process for them,” she said.
Arim was also acknowledged for managing hundreds of cases alleging that L.A. County allowed staff to sexually abuse young people held in its juvenile halls and camps. In addition to those, she oversees dozens more cases filed late last year on behalf of former foster children alleging they were abused when housed at the County’s now-shuttered MacLaren Children’s Center.
When asked about her passion for advocating for victims of mass torts, Arim commented: “It’s doing the most good on an enormous scale.”
