Partner Matthew McNicholas Named to National Law Journal Employment Law Trailblazers 2022 List
National Law Journal recognized Partner Matthew McNicholas on its Employment Law Trailblazers 2022 list. The list is comprised of a competitive collection of lawyers who have had noteworthy achievements in the employment law practice.
Matt has made waves in employment law through his decades-long career representing firefighters and police officers in whistleblower-employment actions against their departments. His recent successes include a $4.3 million verdict awarded to a 23-year LAPD veteran who suffered disability discrimination and retaliation; a $3 million settlement judgment against the City of Los Angeles for six firefighters who blew the whistle on unsafe LAFD practices; and a $2.75 million verdict on behalf of a 38-year veteran of the Los Angeles Fire Department for whistleblower retaliation.
In an interview with National Law Journal, Matt expanded on the influences that have guided his work. “My client’s careers are their livelihoods, so I fight to protect them from unfair and unequitable treatment,” he said. “I am an advocate for all public and private employees who deserve fair treatment, equitable pay and the right to perform their job without abuse, neglect or harm.”
